Nokia seems to have made it a habbit, close on the heels of the N95 8GB the Nokia N95 has also received its long awaited firmware update and now stands at v30.0.015. The good news is that the firmware is also available via the NSU. The new UI that the N81 got, hasn’t made it to the N95, although Automatic Screen Rotation has made an appearance. Also, in case you care, the ‘hack’ still works.
Will update this post as soon as I have more details.
Another firmware update for the N95 8GB has just been rolled out in the form of v 30.0.018. The firmware is currently only available across Nokia Service Centers and is expected to be available via the NSU in the coming weeks. In case you do not live close to one of these centers and have working knowledge with phoenix, then you can also download and install the firmware yourself.
The update brings Maps 2.0, complete N-Gage support, Nokia Search with Google integration, upgrades to the music player, improvemnts in WiFi performance …
As they say - better late than never! After being announced way back in Febuary at the Mobile World Congress, the N96 has finally started to make its way to retailers worldwide at an unsubsidised price of EUR 550. Since the time it was announced, I have been looking forward to it inpite of it being dubbed as a N95 8GB-N81 clone. More recently, after the N85 announcement, prospects of its doing well have further diminished, but something still tells me I will like this device.
Have you already made up …
As soon as the E71 was announced, it had a magnetic attraction to it. Here was a phone that right from the spec sheet and press photos screamed that I am good, probably the best phone Nokia’s made in recent times. After four weeks of constant usage, the E71 was able to live up to the aura its launch had created for it. That being said, there are still things that the E71 indeed needs to take flak for. This post is a rundown of the ups and the downs …
Last month, celebrating one year of The Symbian Blog, we had a bluetooth headsets giveaway. All you needed to do was to register at the Nseries Fusion Challenge website and leave your username in the comments section. Unfortunately, the contest was limited only to those of you in India and we had a total of 55 comments staking their claim. Each comment was assigned a number and the winners were chosen by generating 3 random numbers from Random.Org.
Some of these comments were repetitions, or invalid and therefore were not considered …
First of all, I am absolutely miffed at not being able to attend the virtual launch of these devices as such events are something that Nokia is really good at and second it gives people from all around the world, an opportunity to interact with the people behind the scenes. I really hope at least some of you would have been able to tune in and Nokia makes them a regular feature, at random - just to get the pulse.
Now that the initial euphoria that accompanies every device launch has …
Following on from the N78, the venerable 6220 Classic has received an “over-the-air” update which takes its current firmware version to 3.23. The release v3.23 includes improved stability with Bluetooth (headsets & car kits) and Navigation. The 1.5 MB update is available via the device manager - Menu > Settings > Data Mgr. > Device Manager. Select Options > Check for Updates.
Having tried OTA updates on a N78 I can vouch for their ease of use and user data preservation. Updating is highly advisable and quite a breeze, really. However, …
As is usual for Nokia these days, one day before the official announcements, details and watermarked Conversations press photos of the N85 and the N79 are out in the open. Both these handsets are music & camera centric and are successors of the N81 and the N78 respectively.
The N85 bears a striking resemblance to the upcoming N96 and adds another number to the growing list of Nseries sliders. The handset will feature a 2.6 OLED screen, which boasts of a faster response time, lower power consumption and faster refresh rate …
It has almost become an accepted fact that Eseries devices from Nokia have better build quality than their Nseries siblings, for a long time I thought so too. However, for the good or the bad, that belief of mine has been shattered. Eseries devices have disappointed too and that leads me to this post.
In the last two month or so I or my friends have picked up three Nokia E90’s and two N82’s and what is bad is that all but one have had some problem or the other.
